MRTYR Homecoming Summary

From December 15–21, 2025, the group completed a meaningful and impactful Homecoming visit that blended cultural celebration, community engagement, education, Business Opportunities and development-focused activities.
The trip strengthened relationships across Maryland County, inspired interest in investment and community projects, and generated momentum for long-term collaboration. Testimonials from attendees highlighted excitement about future initiatives, development opportunities, and continued engagement with Maryland County.
Key highlights included:
Cultural and Community Welcome
- A formal Welcome and Kola Nuts Ceremony hosted by Maryland County’s traditional leaders, chiefs, the Superintendent, and women leaders.
Medical Mission & Community Service
- Two days of volunteer healthcare work at JJ Dossen Hospital and Pleebo Health Center
Tourism, Culture & Environmental Exploration
- Visits to beaches, coastal towns, and historic areas in Fishtown, Middletown, Rocktown, Harper, Pleebo, and Karluway
- A Traditional War Dance in Harper City.
- A canoe ride on the Hoffman River to Plunken.
- A surfing demonstration by Maryland Surfers at Dolly/Tubman Beach.
Education & Infrastructure Insight
- A discussion with the President of Tubman University.
- A site visit to the Liberia–Ivory Coast border to observe bridge construction and cross-border development plans.
Business, Investment & Partnership Building
- A Business Session at the Administrative Building where representatives from various ministries gave presentations on various issues.
- Dinner & Ball at Harper City Hall.
Closing Activities
- A final Sunday church service at St Mark’s Episcopal Church before departure.
